Secretary of State for Education praises Kemnal primary schools in Crawley for their outcomes

Bridget Phillipson, the Secretary of State for Education, has written to the Kemnal Academies Trust to commend its primary schools for the 2025 results of Year 6 children in their final year before they transition to secondary school. The Trust oversees 6 Crawley primary schools.

Overall, 71% of Year 6 children in Kemnal primary schools achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths. This is significantly above the national average of 62%.

Broadfield, Seymour, The Bewbush and The Mill primary academies in Crawley were all congratulated for the excellent outcomes that their pupil premium children achieved. These performances put them among the very best schools nationally.

60% of pupil premium children in Kemnal primary schools achieved the expected standard in Year 6, compared to the pupil premium national average that is below 50%.

The Secretary of State for Education wrote in her letter about the Crawley schools, "Your school’s performance is a significant achievement. This success reflects the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils. It shows what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together. Thank you for everything you do to give children the best possible opportunities to succeed."

Kemnal schools in Crawley also include Hilltop Primary and The Oaks Primary. All the schools received excellent reports in their most recent Ofsted inspections.

The Trust's CEO Lord Hobby said: "The achievements of our Crawley children and our Crawley schools are really quite impressive. Many congratulations to everyone involved."

If you would like to see if any of the Crawley schools have places for children starting reception this September, or possibly in other year groups, please contact enquiries@tkat.org.

Parents should hear in April where their children will be starting school in September 2026.
