Level 3 Paediatric First Aid

This Blended Paediatric First Aid course consists of 6 hours of eLearning & 6 hours (7 hours with breaks) classroom based practical session and assessment of learning.

 

**The eLearning element must be completed before attending the pre-set practical & assessment day. An individual email for each person is required, this will be their unique login to the e-learning element. **

The Paediatric First Aid course satisfies the requirements set by Ofsted for early Years Workers under the Early Years Statutory FrameWork. It also satisfies the HSE requirement for low risk workplaces.

 

COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The course aims and objectives are that the student should feel confident to meet the criteria as stated above and to manage the situation until help arrives. The student will be able to show the ability to perform CPR, deal with an unconscious casualty, to control wounds and bleeding and manage common childhood ailments.

The stated outcome is that the candidate can operate as a First Aider in early years and childcare settings with the responsibility to be the first line action in dealing with an emergency situation calmly and confidently.

The syllabus is targeted for those working with babies and children up to puberty but also covers adult emergency procedures.

Timings: You must arrive at least 15 minutes before the course start time. Learners who do not arrive on time may be turned away from the training/assessment day and have to pay full course fee to re-book. Refreshments will be provided, please bring your own lunch.

To meet the certification requirements all learners must be assessed whilst performing the practical elements of the course, some of which will require you to kneel on the floor. Please ensure that you can physically fulfil the practical requirements.

A certificate is issued which is valid for three years and meets the full EYFS/DfE and Ofsted criteria for Early Years.
