Russell Hobby CBE

Russell Hobby CBE has been CEO of The Kemnal Academies Trust since 1st September 2025. 

Before taking up his position with TKAT, Russell was CEO of Teach First from September 2017 and, prior to that, General Secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT). He began his career as a management consultant, helping found Hay Group’s education practice.

Russell serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and is a member of the Education Committee at the Royal Society.

His is a Life Peer in the House of Lords, taking his seat in February 2026.

Russell was awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours List 2022 and was presented with the honorary title of Doctor of Education from Bath Spa University in 2023.
