Anti-Bullying Alliance GOLD Award at TKAT's Rainham School for Girls

Posted on: 29th Nov 2023

TKAT's Rainham School for Girls are proud to announce that they had achieved the GOLD Award for the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

RSG was one of the 4% of the schools to have achieved a Gold in the UK.

Zulal Osman, Associate Assistant Headteacher at RSG, explains:

“By being part of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, we were able to use and share resources that the charity had to offer whilst listening to the child’s voice on how they would like to be supported. We implemented the strategies as well as developing a stronger SEMH programme with the wonderful support of staff as well as the recruitment of Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.

The Ambassadors are an army of amazing students who have been safeguarding trained to deliver mentoring sessions supporting other students who have had child on child issues.”

Following this achievement, RSG were invited to speak at the House of Lords to share their journey and success with other schools, Anti-Bullying organisations and charities, as well as Dame Rachel de Souza, the Children’s Commissioner for England.

Dame Rachel thanked RSG for “tackling bullying in school, the way it should be done”.

During her speech, Zulal spoke about how the existing RSG culture and ethos around the CARE values (Collaboration, Aspiration, Respect, Empowerment) worked hand in hand with the Anti-Bullying Alliance strategies.

Zulal elaborated on the fact that no matter how many processes and systems you have in place to work through and tackle bullying, the key thing is the culture of the school. Having every staff member buy into the CARE values and make it a cultural practice within the school community is paramount to success in tackling instances of bullying.

At RSG ALL staff care about the children and with every process or procedure, the child is always at the centre.

Rachel De Souza said that RSG’s work had “hit the nail on the head” as embedding Anti-Bullying practice is not just a process but a culture.

Well done to all involved.
